FAQs

  • 1-ton of air conditioning is 12,000 BTUs. 1-ton of air conditioning is generally enough to cool up to 500 square feet of space with an 8 foot ceiling. There are a variety of factors to take into consideration, here are just a few:

    • Is my space an insulated and sealed environment? Is it open to the outdoors (tents, storefront with automatic doors, warehouse, etc)

    • Are there large windows that allow sunlight into the room?

    • Is there equipment running that generates a high heatload?

    • Are there several people in a shared space generating a higher heatload?

  • Most of the time you are only required to empty the water once daily. If you are operating in an environment with a lot of dust it is recommended that the filters are vacuumed or replaced to ensure the portable air conditioner is working at its highest efficiency.

  • Water cooled equipment may be an option depending on the environment. Water cooled equipment requires hose connections from a water source and requires a constant flow of water is running through the unit and out a drain. If humidity is not a concern, you can also consider evaporative cooling but that is not the same as air conditioning.
